Should you hire legal counsel to prepare and file your K1 Fiance Visa application?

Yes!

First, let me readily admit that there is no requirement that you hire legal counsel to help process your K1 Fiance Visa. But, I strongly recommend it.

Ive recently reviewed several online sites that claim to offer full K1 Fiance Visa preparation service at more than half of what I charge. In my opinion, you would be better offer to save a few hundred dollars and do it yourself than hire a company that does not have attorneys doing the work. Its a matter of care.

With experienced legal Counsel, you can insure that the process will proceed correctly and without any unnecessary delay. Lawyers are duty bound and obligated to handle your matter with the highest level of care. This means that the clients interest comes first before anything else. In plain English, this means that the care extended to the client supersedes any economic motive of the law firm.  This stands in stark contrast to the many non legal organizations and businesses who process visas and immigration paperwork  like Immigration law firms. I see such companies everywhere on the Internet, located all around the world and many times next to US Embassies. There is obviously a market for rock bottom prices for immigration work, but  I am always sceptical of who is actually doing the work and what shortcuts are being taken to make a profit at such a low price.

Let me explain some more….every case requires hours of review and work. Before the forms can be filled out, a good Attorney will review your personal information and determine if something looks fishy or problematic. USCIS will look at your submitted facts so your lawyer should review them first. Then the forms must be filled out correctly and reviewed for errors. Trust me when I tell you that its easy to make a mistake on the immigration forms. Once filled out, the forms must then be sent to the client for review. Next, every document that must be submitted must be reviewed and examined to make sure that each document is accurate, clean and in compliance with the requirements set by USCIS. Something as simple as a passport style photo must be done correctly.  Then there is the management of the case as it proceeds through the system. Every notice must be reviewed carefully and a system must be in place at the office to track and monitor the progress of every application. Once approved by USCIS, the paperwork for a K1 Fiance Visa must essentially be repeated with the US Embassy.  Lastly, there is the interview. Your Attorney should help prepare your fiance with the K1 Fiance Visa interview.

Having legal counsel who is duty bound to apply the highest standard of care through every phase of the application process is valuable and comes with a cost. I have reviewed one site recently that offers K1 Fiance Visa preparation services for a few hundred dollars and claims to be able to do this through the use of better technology and automation. I honestly don’t know what this really means. Lets be honest here, all law firms use good technology and automation when it is helfpul to their practice. This would be true for K1 Finace Visa Attorneys as well. Technology and automation are great, but you cannot automate good judgement and experience. We have all heard the line ” you get what you pay for” and this is certainly true when it comes to hiring someone to help you with the K1 Fiance Visa application process.

I currently charge $1195 for the K1 Fiance Visa legal work. This is a fair price for all that I do on behalf of my clients. I consider your fiance visa application to be very important work and hiring legal counsel to do the work is a wise decision.
